Varadero in Cuba is filled with fluffy white beaches, and turquoise almost clear waters. The perfect place for cocktails and relaxation. I’ve been in Cuba for almost two weeks, and it’s been on of my best holidays! Havana is the place to be to really get a feel for Cuban life and culture. I wrote about my last experience in my last post ‘A Girls Trip Guide to Cuba’, and it’s the people of Cuba who really done it for me. I’ve never met people so kind and welcoming, and proud to show and teach you about the food, music and traditions.
Beach and relaxation was so needed after a hectic start to the year, and Varadero had the answer. In contrast to Havana, Varadero is very touristy. As a result, expect to pay double the price on everything if you visit. Most people visit there first, and then do s day trip to Havana, and spend most of their time on a resort. My personal advice is to travel round to really get a feel for Cuba.
We chose to stay at the Iberostar Bella Vista hotel in Varadero. It’s a 5* all inclusive (depending on package) resort. We chose this hotel as it’s fairly new, and thought we couldn’t go wrong there. They couldn’t have been more welcoming at this hotel, and the entertainment was on point! More salsa haha! We ate out once, at a restaurant called El Mojito, which was amazing! During our stay in Varadero we also visited the small secluded island Cayo Blanco, which was gorgeous. I really wasn’t ready for how pretty the island is, and the heat.
Varadero Beach Dresses & Chloé Sunglasses Love
I’ve never been a beach dress fan. I’m the type that puts a pair of denim shorts over a bikini, and then throws on a cover up. However this year, I’ve been feeling a little grown, and suddenly obsessed with skirts and dress…I bought my first ever beach dress. This dress is all kinds of love for me. It’s pink, which is one of my favourite colours. It’s very light, flowy and perfect for the heat – and very forgiving on those problem areas.
This dress is from ASOS, which has a large collection of beach dresses. Every time I go on holiday, I always have a selection of bikinis from ASOS, simply because it’s easy and the price point is nice. It comes in a loose, plenty of fabric but light style. The colour is just holiday, and I styled this with my straw bag (not featured), and flip flops.
I have to mention these sunglasses from Chloé. These are called the Carlina round-frame sunglasses, which I have been obsessed with on the blog and Instagram. I even styled it in one of my latest posts ‘Statement Skirts & Tropical Roof Gardens’. More recently I cam across an article on the Style Guide by Farfetch, all about choosing and wearing the best beach sunglasses. The article talks about being aware of what suits your face shape, and your personal style. This inspired me when picking my sunglasses. You can’t really go wrong with these 70’s inspired sunnies from Chloé. They are big and round, and suit my face shape. I do think these compliment a slightly longer face, to get that oversized feel. Where as maybe more cat-eye stye may suit a more round face.
If you have any beach holidays coming up, then check out the article on The Style Guide called ‘Choosing the Best Beach Sunglasses’. To get you thinking about those sunnies to go with your beach dresses!
