Positive statements is something I live by daily. If you asked me how I am, my usual response is “I’m fabulous thank you!”, and I actually believe it. I usually get an “o…k” or a ‘thumbs up’ as people are confused by why I’m so chirpy haha! However, If I don’t decide to be fabulous, I’ll dwell on the fact that I’m running on a few hours sleep, as my autistic brother kept me up the night. Or I’ll dwell on that annoying task I have to do with little instruction. It’s my way of starting the day on a positive note, therefore setting the tone for an epic day.
I believe what you say about yourself determines your life ultimately. It also determines what you decide to do during the day, and even the dreams you choose to chase. Have you ever herd the saying “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (proverbs 23:7)? This means what you think of yourself, wether it be positive or negative, that is what you ultimately become. So if you’re one to always say “I’ll never be able to afford that” (for example)…then you won’t unfortunately. I guess thats the beauty of the Law of Attraction – where like attracts like. And this all starts with your thoughts.
Positive Statements x Dolce & Gabbana Tee
Statement t-shirts and logo tees have been a solid fashion staple this year. Thanks to brands such as Gucci, Adidas (traditionally) and Givenchy. In addition, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first collection for Dior SS17. One of her most popular designs this year, the “We Should All Be Feminists” t-shirt, which was inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s essay and TEDx talk, really sparked off the slogan t-shirt trend. A trend that wasn’t very cool a few years ago, now back in fashion, without any signs of fading just yet!
They key to wearing this trend is to have conviction behind the brand and the messaging of the t-shirt. I wrote about this in reference to feminism in my previous post ‘Feminism & Empowerment with Rock on Ruby’. I have long time been a fan of slogan tees, and logo sweaters. Like in this old-school post ‘The Midi Skirt & Slogan Tee’ and Tommy Jeans & Oversized Logos’. So when I saw this Dolce & Gabbana logo t-shirt, with a slogan written across it, I had to have it! I totally love the idea of wearing a positive statement.
I styled this t-shirt with this sequinned skirt from Zara, and some old school suede heeled pumps from Office. The tassel earrings are from Next, and if I’m honest, I didn’t expect to like because of the colour – but I LOVE them! Because the outfit overall was a little bright, with the monochrome t-shirt to break it up, I thought a muted tone bag would fit – my Alexander Wang Prisma Bag. There are many other ways to style these t-shirts, like with a checked blazer and vinyl trousers or with sport luxe joggers. Let me know what you think of this look! Spread the love, and stay positive!
