Party dress season and the Christmas preparations and celebrations are in full swing. Before you know it, we’ll be partying it into the New Year! Every year we see the same trends appear, sequins, embellishment and lots of velvet. However, 2018 party wear has also seen a new focus turn to big statement jewellery, especially diamonte earrings. Tights paired with mini party dresses have also become a thing, with inspirations coming from brands such as Balmain and Chanel’s AW18 runway looks.
As well as party season, this is the time of year everyone is trying to squeeze in a catch up over dinner or drinks. Also, a reflective period for most, while we debate what whats app groups to leave and what our goals are for the next year. Who or what have you put out in the trash (the bin man comes on Tuesdays – private joke haha!) But most importantly how are you going to raise the bar, and become a better version of your 2018 self! All this can be exciting as well as overwhelming. But darling let’s save this chat for another post!
The Party Dress
This year’s current party wear season trends are very much 80s inspired, with short sequin dresses, bold colours in satin fabric, extravagant shoulders and pat butcher style jewellery. Personally, I love it! Reminds me of a phase I was 22-24 and was obsessed with that whole era 70s – 80s, where I wore flared and high waisted jeans, bell sleeves and had my hair with a middle part flicked out. I once had the pleasure of meeting Estelle to gift her some clothes me and a friend designed. Estelle’s makeup artist told me that I reminded her of a black Farrah Fawcett; this is exactly how I use to style my hair! I had a Charlie’s Angels vibe going on!
This gold sequined party dress is from a forever high-street favourite …Zara. This dress also came out in a grey silvery colour last year, but gold is one of my favourite colours so I’m 100% digging this year’s version. It’s also available in black (here) which I may also get! This blazer dress can also be worn as a longline blazer, which I did when I presented at a company conference so it’s very versatile! I love wearing dresses in multiple ways as I did in my previous post ‘How to Style your Summer Dress in Autumn‘.
The earrings were also an absolute steal from a brand called True Decadence via ASOS. Very good alternative if you want to get into the diamonte earring trend, without the large price tag commitment. These earrings create that soft glam looks on days where you want to be casual, but look like you tried! To that power extravagant shoulder mini sequined party dress!
Brands to shop for the ultimate party wear for the season include brands such as Self Portrait, Balmain, Top Shop, Zara and & Other Stories! In case the next post doesn’t get out before the 25th, Merry Christmas Beauts!
